In Good Company | Celebrating Art, Artists & Community in Christchurch

In Good Company is now showing at Ashe Gallery, bringing together more than 20 artists in a special group exhibition celebrating art, artists and community in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Ashe Gallery is proud to present this eclectic exhibition as part of One Year of Ashe, marking our first 12 months at 153 High Street. More than simply an anniversary, In Good Company is a celebration of the artists, collectors, creatives and art lovers who have helped shape the gallery and its growing creative community.

The exhibition brings together original paintings, sculpture, ceramics, fibre, bronze and mixed media works, offering visitors the opportunity to discover a diverse selection of contemporary art from artists across Aotearoa.

Curatorial statement from Ashleigh:

In Good Company brings together more than 20 Ashe artists in celebration of the creative community we continue to grow together.

As I reflect on Ashe’s first year, I wanted this exhibition to be less about a milestone and more about the people who have shaped this space - the artists, collectors, creatives and art lovers who continue to gather around a shared appreciation for contemporary art.

Each artist was invited to contribute a work that speaks to their own practice, ideas and way of seeing. Together, these works create an eclectic and considered collection spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, fibre, bronze and mixed media, offering a glimpse into the breadth and diversity of contemporary art being created across Aotearoa.

For me, In Good Company is a celebration of connection: the conversations that happen around art, the stories held within each work, and the people who bring this community to life.
