BULLSEYE
Scott McIntosh Solo Exhibition
Opening: Friday 2 October 2026
Exhibition: 2 - 17 October 2026
Location: Ashe Art Gallery, 153 High Street, Ōtautahi Christchurch
Scott McIntosh's first solo exhibition, BULLSEYE, brings together twelve months of experimentation, exploration and growth from an emerging New Zealand artist finding his voice.
Working between the mountains and the sea on Te Waipounamu's east coast, McIntosh draws on the places, people and experiences that shape his everyday life. Over the past year, his practice has moved across mediums, materials and subject matter - testing ideas, pushing processes and developing a visual language that is bold, playful and distinctly his own.
At the heart of BULLSEYE is an exploration of presence and place - not simply where we are physically, but what it means to occupy a place, to be seen, to belong and to understand ourselves within it.
Questions around ego and essence sit alongside a more playful engagement with skate and tattoo culture, with different styles and influences colliding across the canvas. The result is a body of work that doesn't always offer a clear answer. Instead, McIntosh creates moments of recognition and uncertainty - familiar imagery alongside unexpected juxtapositions, inviting viewers to bring their own experiences to the work.
BULLSEYE is both a reflection on where Scott McIntosh has been and a glimpse of where he might be heading next.
Join us at Ashe Art Gallery in Christchurch to experience the first solo exhibition from an emerging artist at an important point in his developing practice.
