These two pieces from my Birdlings Flat Collection (originally named Te Mata Hapuku) have been inspired by gathering driftwood and stones from along the wild and rugged coastline.
Title: Lighthouse - Guardian of Tides
Dimensions: Approx 280×100mm
Medium: Mixed Media - Encaustic wax, stones, shells, recycled glass, copper wire and rimu base
Description: At the shore’s edge, the lighthouse stands tall, a sentinel of stone, watching over the ever-changing tides. It is said to harbour the spirit of the ocean, whispering secrets to the brave who dare to listen.
Title: Elemental Dance

Medium: Mixed Media - Encaustic wax, driftwood, recycled paper, copper wire
Description: A tall encaustic wax sculpture adorned with driftwood and copper wire swirls in subtle blues and greens, embodying the ocean’s dynamic energy. It tells the story of the elements colliding, creating an ever-evolving landscape of beauty.
Care For Encaustic Art: Hang and store at normal room temperatures. Avoid freezing and extremely hot temperatures, wax will melt at 150deg.F/65 deg.C Keep out of direct sunlight. Buff with clean dry cloth to restore shine. Enjoy.
