Midnight's Garden
Framed Original Painting by Elizabeth Wood
Oil pastel on 200gsm canvas paper
Artwork Dimension: 500×500mm
Framed in a deep choc brown/mahogany frame with 8cm mat board (680×685mm)
This fresh series of botanicals works celebrates flowers in all their colourful and textured beauty! ‘Midnight's Garden’ central feature is the glowing, yellow statice flower contrasting with the beautiful deep red ochre of the background. It is inspired by the opulent colour intricate floral patterns of art deco.
I'm Elizabeth Wood, the face behind E J Wood Art. I’m based in Mount Maunganui, a beautiful beachside town in New Zealand. I work from a small, custom built studio next to my home. My time is split between painting, running my art website and being a mother.
I have been painting full-time for five years, during which I have explored a variety of subjects and mediums.
My most current work has been painted using oil paints, as their rich colour and texture enable me to communicate my own visual language and emerging style.
My work explores expressive brush strokes, and as these works are quite loose, the colour palette is fundamental in weaving it all together. I tend to use quite bold color to differentiate objects and space.
