Working with clay for over 30 years now, I gained my Diploma of Arts (Ceramics) in 2004. I spend about half my time making functional ceramics on the wheel, while the other half is spent more creatively hand building one off pieces in an evolving series.
Porcelain can be translucent but its whiteness also gives glazes a lift. My “cleanskin” bowls are glazed on the inside with an unglazed but polished outside.

Te Whanganui-a-tara Wellington
Coil built out of groggy stoneware, once her general shape was finished, I refined her with a hacksaw blade until she was smooth. When dry, she was bisque fired to 1000°. Then glazed with a copper-based glaze and fired in reduction to 1300° in a gas kiln.

Much maligned, “bird women” appear in myths and folktales in many cultures.
Often seen as portraying evil, contrasting stories however show her in protective roles or associate her with music and love.
Though the Furies in Greek mythology had bird wings rather than a bird head, this is my slant. My interpretation is that the macho world feels threatened by mentally powerful women and therefore see her as ugly or evil.
