Sandie Brown - Ōtautahi, Christchurch
“Beauty to uplift the soul” is the reason Sandie paints. Born in the 1950s Christchurch (New Zealand) artist Sandie Brown has drawn and painted from a young age.
Over the years she has taken many Local classes in painting and drawing, (life and portrait) based at the Canterbury University continuing education center, as well as more recently studying portrait drawing via zoom class with the Arts Student League of New York.
With classical training under the guidance of international artists ( Kelli Folsom, Greg Kreutz, Sherrie McGraw to name a few) since 2018 , Sandie’s work evokes a sense of timelessness and stability in a Contemporary World where uncertainty is the norm.
Oil paint is her passion and her greatest love is to capture the effect of light as it moves across the canvas in a variety of subject matter, be it still life with its endless possibilities, landscapes and travel memories, or a furry friend.
