Zinnea

$2,500.00

Original Painting by Glen Curtin
Ōtautahi Christchurch

Zinnea is a work that sees Glen pushing his practice in a bold new direction. Starting with polystyrene treated with paint thinners, the surface is manipulated to reveal a field of tiny craters and texture. From there, layers of spray paint and acrylic paint pen build up a dense constellation of dots.

The result is hypnotic, optical illusion of movement the longer you look. Finished in a sharp white timber frame, this is a work that really comes alive in person.

Dimensions: 900×900×90mm

Christchurch-based artist Glen Curtin draws inspiration from architecture, mid-century design, and the vibrant energy of surf culture. Working primarily with spray paint on birch ply, his paintings are defined by their clean lines, bold colour contrasts, and precise geometric compositions - all while allowing the subtle wood grain to shine through.

Glen’s work bridges structure and play, reflecting both his love of modernist form and the freedom of coastal living. The result is art that feels fresh, distinctive, and deeply connected to Aotearoa’s creative and cultural landscape.
