I ventured to the Manukau Heads lighthouse early one winter’s morning to shoot views of Auckland city, but as the sun rose and its rays of warm light struck the water surface, the entire harbour was suddenly engulfed in thick fog. Just when I thought it was all over, this spiritual silhouette off to my right began to emerge from the light, standing in contrast as a guardian to the harbour below ... already using my 240mm lens + 2x tele-converter, I was able to react quickly and I captured 8 images over 17 minutes, but it was this frame #3 that stood out. A brief moment in time was now this powerfully poetic scene.
